OCTAGENE GmbH – we know the score
Expertise and experience are the basis for good work and perfect results. Since the founding of OCTAGENE GmbH in 1997, our experience in the area of research and development in the field of human cell lines has developed extensively, resulting in the maturation of an effective, product-oriented biotechnology firm.
The emphasis of our work is the development of recombinant pharmaceuticals as a modern alternative to plasma products.
The demand for recombinant therapies is rising steadily. The proof from market statistics is impressive. From 2002 to 2005, the market share for recombinant proteins in 25 researched companies rose by approximately 8% overall. The example of the Factor VIII product, which is derived from plasma, demonstrates this especially clearly: The shift of plasma-derived Factor VIII to recombinant Factor VII was reflected in a clear turnover share increase and rapid growth of 96%.
Our work confirms these trend-setting discoveries, which make it clear that OCTAGENE GmbH is on the right path.
Human Cells for Better Compatibility
For the production of proteins with characteristics identical to those of humans, we use human cells, thus ensuring far better compatibility with the products for the patients than frequently-used hamster lines. For all theoretical research work is very close to our heart: We do not only want to be pioneers for progressive science, but also hope that what we do increases the quality of life in the best possible way for the people that it affects, such as those afflicted with hemophilia.
